Saturday, 16th January 2026 was a memorable in BAITEI, Ngie Subdivision, as the people of this community of ETWII village came out en masse to elect a new Coordinator, to replace Mr. Fonangwan Jerry, who passed away.

This elective General Assembly of the neighborhood was supervised by the Lord Mayor of Andek council, Mr. UBANGOH HELLY accompanied by the Divisional Officer for Ngie Subdivision, Mr. OTEH Philip BACHE.

The ceremony saw the election of Mr. Afriambum Samson as the new Neighborhood Coordinator. The new coordinator is to work in an 8 members team in the committee.

The ceremony was attended by the representatives of His Royal Highness the Fon of ETWII and a delegation from the ETWII Cultural and Development Association that was led by its president, Mr. EGHABI Jerry; accompanied by Pa ETAH Alfred and Mr. ESENI Paul.
The Divisional Officer and the Mayor took turns to explain the texts on the functioning of the village/Neighborhood committees. And encouraged them to champion the development of the community, as their primary focus. They shall amongst others:
– encourage their school to resume effectively
– ⁠organize cleanup campaigns, in consultation with the head of the neighborhood
– ⁠encourage hygiene and sanitation
– ⁠encourage agricultural production
– ⁠encourage their people to go the the health Centre when ill
– ⁠encourage peace building initiatives such as sporting and cultural activities, etc.
