LARGE-SCALE PRODUCTION OF NGIE BEANS ANDEK MUNICIPALITY IS READY FOR THE MARKET
The Lord Mayor of Andek Council, Mr. UBANGOH HELLY MANYELLE, is pleased to inform Stakeholders, Potential Buyers, Agro-Industries, NGOs, Development Partners, and the General Public that large-scale cultivation of the famous Ngie Beans is currently ongoing across the Municipality, as evidenced by the flourishing farms in Tinechung, ETWII, Bonanyang, Andek, Teze, Bonambufei, Abebung, etc.
WHY NGIE BEANS?
Ngie Beans is not an ordinary beans. It is a highly nutritive, tasty and special variety peculiar to Ngie Land in Momo Division. Cultivated through the traditional and meticulous STAKING SYSTEM, the process is difficult and labour-intensive, but the result is worth it:
– Superior taste and high nutritional value
– High demand and premium price in the market
– Verified and appreciated by consumers in Tinechung Market, Andek Market, Mbengwi, Bamenda and beyond
– 100% organic, grown on the fertile highlands of Andek
The video and images attached show thousands of staked stands already in full vegetative growth, with *intercropping with maize* – a demonstration of our farmers’ resilience and know-how despite difficult terrain.
CALL TO STAKEHOLDERS AND BUYERS
In line with Government’s PIISAH (Import-Substitution Plan 2027-2029) prescribed by the Head of State in the 2027 Budget Circular, Andek Council is positioning itself as a *major production basin for beans* in the North West Region.
The Council therefore:
1. Invites all potential buyers, wholesalers and retailers from Bamenda, Bafoussam, Douala, Yaoundé and beyond to book in advance for the upcoming harvest season;
2. Invites Technical and Financial Partners (MINADER, MIDENO, UNDP, NGOs) to partner with the Council to support value-chain development, storage, processing and market linkage;
3. Assures the general public that Andek beans will be available in large quantities, at competitive prices, in our local markets of TINECHUNG and ANDEK.
This is a product of Andek, by Andek people, for Cameroon and for export.
