THE PEOPLE OF BASIC-MEMGOM SAY THANK YOU TO MAYOR UBANGOH HELLY FOR HIS DEVELOPMENT EFFORTS IN THE LOCALITY
On Friday the 17th of April 2026 the Lord Mayor, Mr. Ubangoh Helly, received a delegation from Basic village, MENGOM, led by the Neighborhood Coordinator. And accompanied by some quarter heads, Church leaders and other dignitaries of the community.
The visit was marked by a strong display of unity, gratitude, and appreciation for the remarkable developmental efforts undertaken in their community.
The primary objective of the visit was to express sincere thanks to the Lord Mayor for the commendable work he has been carrying out in the MENGOM New Layout area, with emphasis on the Basic land.
The group of indigenous elites particularly highlighted the creation of a new layout, which they described as a significant step toward modern development. According to them, this newly planned area will serve as a suitable site for the construction of beautiful and well-organized homes, as well as an extension zone for improved road networks.
In addition, the people expressed their gratitude for the ongoing road work, and the construction of a giant bridge over River Ekeh, which are already improving accessibility to the area. They also acknowledged with appreciation the ongoing construction of a health center and a school, noting that these projects will greatly enhance access to healthcare and education for the community.
The visit was characterized by joy and heartfelt expressions. The population emphasized that their gesture, though modest, was deeply meaningful. Using the expression “empty hand no di go for moup” by this, they conveyed that they came with what they had, as a symbol of genuine appreciation rather than material value.
As a token of their gratitude, the people presented the Lord Mayor with some good oil from the MENGOM land, as a symbol of love.
They humbly requested that he should not underestimate the significance of their gift, stressing that it was offered wholeheartedly as a sign of their appreciation and support.
In their concluding remarks, the people of Upper Mengong encouraged the Lord Mayor to continue with the good work he has been doing and assured him of their unwavering support. They reiterated their satisfaction with the visible progress in their community and expressed hope for continued development under his leadership.
