ANDEK COUNCIL BOOSTS ADULT LITERACY WITH MULTI-MILLION CFA DONATION
Ngie – 6th June 2026 – Andek Council has moved to enforce the state literacy policy after handing over material assets worth millions of CFA francs to the Adult Literacy Center, Ngie Sub-Division.
The Lord Mayor of Andek Council, Mr. Ubangoh Helly Manyelle Akoba, presided over the ceremony in the presence of the Divisional Officer for Ngie, Mr. Oteh Philip Bache, and the Inspector of Basic Education, Mr. Ngong John. Their presence underscored the administrative and pedagogical backing behind the initiative.
Donated items included computers, printers, scanners, gas bottles, an industrial cooker, benches, tables, textbooks, whiteboards, cutlasses, hoes, spraying cans, and watering cans, sewing machines, among others.
Speaking at the event, the Lord Mayor said the objective aligns with government policy that every Cameroonian, especially indigenes of Ngie, must be able to read and write regardless of age. He noted that combining digital learning tools with agricultural equipment positions the center as a multi-functional hub for both education and livelihood support.
The Divisional Officer commended the initiative as a demonstration of state reach to every village, while the Inspector of Basic Education provided pedagogical assurance for the program’s implementation.
Community leaders welcomed the donation, describing it as a step toward inclusive development and improved adult literacy in Ngie.
